Talisker – Storm (70cl, 45.8%)

Talisker Storm is a single malt from the Isle of Skye, launched in February 2013 and sold without an age statement. It is bottled at 45.8% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky is a vatting of malts of different ages from refill bourbon casks and rejuvenated casks, chosen for the character wanted rather than a set age. Within the Talisker range it is the smokier, spicier expression, with wood, brine and pepper set against malty sweetness and fruit. Colouring is added and it is chill-filtered. The nose is sweet malt and ripe red berries, then smoke, brine and peppery spice. The palate is soft and full, with sweetness before strong spice, and the finish is drier, medium in length and warming, with gentle peat embers.
