The Balvenie – 12 Year Old The 1931 Collection Home Malted Barley Sherry Cask Finish (70cl, 47.5%)

This is a 12-year-old single malt from The Balvenie in Speyside, part of The 1931 Collection, in a 70cl bottle at 47.5% ABV. The number 1931 refers to the opening of the distillery's own malting floor, and this limited release uses barley malted entirely on site. The whisky matured in American oak, then received a finish in European oak butts that had previously been used in a sherry bodega in Jerez. The house style is honeyed and soft. The sherry finish adds fruity depth and fine spice, and the whisky is described as balanced and velvety, with a lingering, gentle finish.
