The Balvenie 12 Year Old The Sweet Toast of American Oak is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
It began with the aim of making an even fruitier, sweeter Balvenie. Virgin oak barrels were brought in from Kentucky and deeply toasted at The Balvenie Cooperage, then filled with Balvenie that had been aged in ex-bourbon barrels.
The nose combines malt, sweet fudge, citrus and oak vanilla with ginger and cinnamon. On the palate come candied orange and lemon peel, vanilla toffee, butterscotch and blossom honey, and the finish is rich and malty with gentle oak vanilla and subtle spice.
