The Balvenie 16 Year Old French Oak is a single malt finished in casks that previously held Pineau des Charentes. It is bottled at 47.6% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
Pineau des Charentes is a fortified wine from the Charentes vineyards of France, made by adding Cognac eau-de-vie to unfermented grape juice and then maturing it. Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE explored these casks after a trip to the region, and this is the first Balvenie finish to use French oak.
