The Balvenie 16 Year Old French Oak Pineau Cask is a Speyside single malt, bottled at 47.6% in a 70cl bottle.
It was first aged in American oak barrels, then finished in casks that previously held wine from the French Charentes region. The finish adds delicate fruit and subtle spice to the honeyed character of the distillery.
The nose is floral, with geranium, orange peel, green orchard fruits, vanilla and honey. On the palate there are pear, apricot, citrus, heather honey and a little white pepper over gentle oak spice. The finish is medium to long, with citrus zest and soft spice.
