This is a 16 year old Speyside single malt from The Balvenie, bottled at 47.6% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
It was first aged in American oak casks, then moved into casks that previously held Pineau from France. That second maturation adds honey-glazed fruit and a subtle leafy note.
The nose offers gingerbread and sponge cake with a splash of grapefruit. The palate has almond pastries, honeyed apricot, geranium, buttery vanilla and a little toasted cedar. The finish brings more citrus and honey, with a hint of honeydew melon.
