This is a 17 year old Speyside single malt from The Balvenie, bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
DoubleWood is a consecutive maturation, often called cask finishing. The whisky is matured first in American oak barrels, which add soft, sweet vanilla notes, then moved to European oak sherry casks, where the second maturation brings rich spice and greater depth and fullness of flavour.
Malt Master David Stewart returned to this method in 2012, the year he celebrated 50 years at The Balvenie.
