The Balvenie – 18 Year Old Pedro Ximenez Cask Finish (70cl, 48.7%)

This is an 18 year old single malt from The Balvenie, finished in sherry butts that previously held Pedro Ximenez. It is bottled at 48.7% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Pedro Ximenez is a Spanish white grape that gives an intensely sweet, dessert-style wine. This is the distillery's second sherry-finished expression, part of its double maturation range, with Ian Miller looking for the casks. The palate is typically described as grape peel, mandarin and fig with bright oak, a subtle oil and honeyed sweetness, followed by a gentle, lingering finish.
