The Balvenie – 21 Year Old Portwood (70cl, 40%)

The Balvenie 21 Year Old Portwood is an official Speyside single malt, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. A marriage of Balvenie whiskies is moved into port pipes, casks that have previously held port wine. The Malt Master samples it regularly, so the casks add just the right amount of character while the original character of the single malt is kept. It is bright amber in colour, with a nose of ripe raisins and fruit over a nutty dryness. The palate is creamy and silky, with fruit, honey and spice, and the finish is long, gentle and nutty.
