The Balvenie 40 Year Old Rare Marriages is a single malt Scotch whisky in a 75cl bottle at 46% ABV. Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE drew on some of the rarest casks in the Balvenie warehouses to create it.
The whisky spent 40 years maturing in traditional American and European oak. Honeyed oak and rich fruit give layers of sweetness and spice, with ginger and citrus coming through later.
The nose offers honey and orange marmalade with a creamy fruitiness. The palate brings orange blossom, candied ginger and honeyed sweetness, then oak, vanilla and a delicate sherried fruit. The finish is warm and elegant, with honeyed citrus.
