This is an 18 year old single malt from The Balvenie, released as Story No. 10 in the Balvenie Stories range under the name A Collection of Curious Casks. It is a single cask bottling, chosen by Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie.
The whisky was matured in traditional oak and then given a second maturation in French oak casks that previously held Pineau, a sweet wine from the Charentes region of France.
It is described as having layers of delicate spicy sweetness, with a warming amber character and gentle oaky tannin.
