The Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 Year Old is a Speyside single malt matured for fourteen years in American oak barrels, then transferred to casks that previously held Caribbean rum. The second maturation adds a layer of sweetness to the honeyed character of the distillery. It is bottled at 43% and has a warm golden colour.
The nose offers vanilla fudge, ripe banana, baked apple, honey and soft toffee. On the palate come brown sugar, butterscotch and creamy malt with tropical fruit and gentle cinnamon. The finish is medium to long, with soft spice, drying oak and a sweetness recalling demerara sugar.
