The Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 Year Old is a single malt that spent 14 years in traditional oak whisky casks before a final period in casks that had held Caribbean rum.
Those finishing casks were prepared by Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE, who filled American oak with his own blend of West Indian rums. Once he judged them ready, the rum was emptied out and the 14 year old spirit went in.
The Balvenie's smooth, honeyed character is joined by toffee and a hint of fruit, leading to a warm, lingering finish.
