The Balvenie DoubleWood is a 12-year-old Speyside single malt, bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is matured in two stages: first in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, then in European oak sherry casks, which add depth and warmth.
The nose is warm, with sweet dried fruit, honey and vanilla, along with toasted nuts, orange peel and polished oak. On the palate it is smooth and medium-bodied, with honeyed malt, toffee, baked apple, cinnamon and dark fruit. The finish is long and mellow, with soft oak spice and a delicate sherry sweetness.
