The Balvenie Madeira Cask 15 Year Old is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is first matured in American oak casks, then moved into casks that previously held Madeira, a method pioneered by Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE. The whisky has a warm golden colour.
The American oak brings vanilla and honey, while the Madeira finish adds citrus, orchard fruit and a gentle nuttiness.
The nose has honey, vanilla, citrus peel and orchard fruit, with berries, grape must and floral notes. The palate shows sweet honey, soft spice, citrus, white wine, toffee and subtle nuttiness. The finish is medium to long, with sweet fruit, gentle spice and slightly drying oak.
