The Balvenie Malt 21 Year Old Portwood is a single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 47.6% ABV. It is the flagship of Balvenie's Port Wood series and was first released in 1996.
The whisky was finished in port pipes that were themselves 30 years old, and it is described as fruity with a very subtle smoke.
The nose is elegant, with white peach and a faint puff of smoke. The palate is delicate, with red fruit, raisins, an edge of white grape and floral honey. The finish is cocoa, slightly bitter, tailing away gently.
