The Balvenie Port Wood 21 Year Old is a Speyside single malt, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It spends more than twenty years maturing in American oak casks before moving to port pipes for a finish.
The port wood adds fruit richness while the distillery's honeyed character stays in place. The colour is a deep amber with ruby undertones.
The nose brings ripe plum, black cherry, sultana and acacia honey. On the palate are dried fig, raisin, hazelnut and dark chocolate. The finish is long and warming, with soft tannin, spice and a hint of cocoa.
