The Balvenie The Sweet Toast of American Oak is a 12 year old single malt in a 75cl bottle, bottled at 43% ABV. Apprentice Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie wanted a fruitier, sweeter Balvenie and brought in virgin oak barrels from Kentucky. They were deeply toasted at The Balvenie Cooperage, then filled with Balvenie that had been aged in ex-bourbon barrels.
The nose is malty, with sweet fudge, citrus and oak vanilla, plus ginger and cinnamon. The palate offers candied orange and lemon peel, vanilla toffee, butterscotch, blossom honey and brown sugar, with oak spices at the end. The finish is rich and malty, with gentle oak vanilla and subtle spice.
