The BenRiach 21 Year Old is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 46% ABV. It matured in four cask types: virgin American oak, ex-Bourbon barrels, PX sherry and red wine casks. The distillery's spirit works well with the ex-wine casks, which bring out the fruity notes.
It belongs to the distillery's classic range of unpeated whiskies and was one of the first creations of master blender Dr Rachel Barrie after she joined in 2017.
The nose is fruity and vibrant, with candied citrus peel, pears, orange zest and vanilla cookie dough. The palate brings gingerbread, delicate sherry and red fruits, and the finish is long and slightly dry, with red wine and creamy butteriness.
