The Big Peat Manila Intramuros Edition is a limited blended malt from Douglas Laing, created for the Philippines and inspired by the walled city of Intramuros in Manila. It is bottled at 48% in a 700ml bottle, without chill filtration.
The blend is made from Islay malts, including whisky from Ardbeg, Bowmore, Caol Ila and the now silent Port Ellen distillery.
The nose brings sea breeze and campfire smoke with salted caramel, driftwood and a hint of citrus. On the palate, peat meets honey, cracked pepper and charred oak, with creamy malt and a touch of lemon zest. The finish is long and warming, with smoke, cocoa and sea salt.
