The Borders Distillery First Release is an 8-year-old single malt from Hawick. Launched in September 2026, it is the first single malt distilled and released in the Scottish Borders since 1837.
The barley was grown entirely in the Borders, on ten nearby farms, and fermented for 72 hours before distillation in copper stills. Maturation began in first-fill American oak ex-bourbon barrels and continued in Malmsey Madeira casks. It is bottled at 46% without chill filtration, in a run of 10,000 bottles.
The house style is fruity, sweet and aromatic.
