The Dalmore – 12 Year Old (70cl, 40%)

The Dalmore 12 Year Old is a Highland single malt bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It spends its first nine years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks. The spirit is then divided. Half stays in bourbon barrels, while the other half moves to 30 year old Gonzalez Byass Matusalem oloroso sherry butts, and the two are brought back together. Andrew Mackenzie's original 12 year old was made when whisky was commonly matured for no more than six years. It is typically described with citrus, chocolate and aromatic spices on the nose, citrus, oloroso sherry and vanilla pod on the palate, and roasted coffee and chocolate in the finish.
