The Dalmore – 12 Year Old (70cl, 40%)

The Dalmore 12 Year Old is a Highland single malt, bottled at 40% abv in a 70cl bottle. It was Andrew Mackenzie's original expression, made when whisky was usually matured for no more than six years and he chose to double that. It spends its first nine years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks. The spirit is then split: half stays in bourbon barrels and half moves to Gonzalez Byass Matusalem oloroso sherry butts that are 30 years old, before the two are reunited. The nose offers citrus fruits, chocolate and aromatic spices. On the palate come citrus, oloroso sherry and vanilla pod, and the finish brings roasted coffee and chocolate.
