The Dalmore – 14 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (75cl, 40%)

The Dalmore 14 Year Old is a Highland single malt from the Dalmore distillery in Alness, on the Cromarty Firth, bottled at 40% in a 750ml bottle. It comes in the stag-embossed bottle the distillery has used since the 19th century. The whisky is matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, then finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. That sweet, concentrated sherry style adds dried fruit, fig and chocolate character to the vanilla and caramel built up in the first oak. The nose brings dark chocolate, orange zest, roasted coffee and rich sherry. On the palate there are sweet raisins, baking spice, chocolate orange and honeyed depth. The finish is long, with spice, dark fruit and bittersweet cocoa.
