The Dalmore 18 Year Old is a Highland single malt in a 70cl bottle, matured in two stages. It spends 14 years in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels, then moves into 30-year-old Matusalem Oloroso sherry butts from the Gonzalez Byass bodega for a further four years. The whisky is then left to marry in upright sherry casks before bottling.
The nose opens with vanilla, dark chocolate and orange marmalade, followed by cinnamon, nutmeg and roasted coffee. The palate is full-bodied, with dark chocolate, candied citrus peel, raisins, espresso and toasted oak. The finish is very long and warm, with dark cocoa, orange zest and sweet spice.
