The English 17 Year Old Portuguese Cabernet Sauvignon Cask (Founders Private Cellar Release 4)

This is a 17 year old English single malt, distilled in 2007 and matured in a Portuguese Cabernet Sauvignon cask. It is Release 4 in the Founders Private Cellar series, which follows the tradition begun by the founder, James Nelstrop. The whisky is bottled at cask strength, so it reaches the glass as it came from the cask. The nose brings dates, toffee and dark chocolate. On the palate there are red fruits, apples and brown sugar, leading to a full-bodied, dry finish of medium to long length.
