The English Founders Private Cellar 18 Year Old is an English single malt matured in a single rum cask. It was chosen from the founding family's private cellar and released in a limited edition of 174 individually numbered bottles.
The bottling echoes the distillery's earlier Chapter 7, an unpeated single malt matured in ex-rum casks and a long-time favourite of the founders.
The nose offers ripe fruits, caramel and vanilla with a subtle hint of spice. The palate is full-bodied at first, with cinnamon, clove, vanilla, raisins and boiled tropical sweets, plus a gentle oak smoke. The spice later turns to chocolate. The finish is medium to long, leaving tropical fruit sweetness and oak.
