The English Virgin Oak Small Batch Release

This is the Virgin Oak Cask expression from The English Distillery, released as a small batch. It began life as an experiment and has since earned a place in The English range. Whisky matured in new oak can be overwhelming, but here the cask adds creamy, nutty and chocolatey character with only a restrained hint of strong oak. Rich vanilla and nutty barley sit alongside it. The nose is toasted vanilla pod, coconut ice, ginger and a trace of caraway. The palate is full-bodied, with barley, almond liqueur and a rising nutmeg warmth, then more vanilla and chocolate coffee. The finish brings honey on toast, delicate citrus and pepper.
