This is a 15 year old single malt from Glenlivet in Speyside. Part of the spirit matured in French Limousin oak, the high-tannin wood also used for Cognac, and the time in it was kept limited so the wood does not dominate.
Master Distiller Jim Cryle oversaw the process. The result pairs a higher level of vanilla with the elegant, fruity character of Glenlivet, giving a spicy, well-balanced whisky. It won a gold medal in the Best in Class category at the International Wine & Spirit Competition.
