The Glenlivet – 15 Years of Age French Oak Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 40%)

The Glenlivet 15 Year Old French Oak Reserve is a single malt bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. A proportion of the spirit is matured in French oak casks, which gives the whisky its rich, exotic character. The Limousin oak is cut in the Dordogne region of France, where it is often used to mature cognac. Its low density lets the whisky sink deep into the wood, and the time in cask is controlled so the spiciness is not overpowered. The colour is deep, intense gold. The nose is creamy, rich and buttery, the palate is fruit and nut, and the finish is lingering, with sweet almond and spice.
