The Hearach Oloroso Release is a single malt from Isle of Harris Distillery, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is the second permanent bottling in the distillery's range.
It matured throughout in Oloroso sherry butts from the family-run Bodega José y Miguel Martin in Andalusia, which had held sherry before they were filled with Harris new make spirit. The casks add depth and richness to a distillate with light peat.
The nose offers cinnamon, orange peel and clove with white chocolate. On the palate come walnut, orange and fireside smoke, and the finish is long, with vanilla pod, exotic spices, leather and liquorice.
