The Hearach is the first single malt released by Isle of Harris Distillery in the Outer Hebrides, which was founded in 2015. It is made from Scottish Concerto barley and lightly peated spirit, then matured in first-fill bourbon barrels, oloroso sherry butts and fino sherry casks. It is bottled at 46% without chill filtration or added colour.
The nose offers heather honey, orchard fruit and vanilla with soft bonfire smoke. The palate has malted biscuit, citrus peel and clotted cream alongside gentle peat. The finish is smooth, with ginger spice, light smoke and a hint of salinity.
