The Ileach is a single malt from Islay, bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Its name is the word for a native of the island, and the distillery that makes it is deliberately kept private.
The whisky is matured in ex-bourbon casks, and its character is shaped by strong peat smoke and maritime impressions. Colouring is used.
On the nose, intense peat smoke leads, with maritime notes, spicy oak, light vanilla and a hint of citrus. The palate is full and robust, with smoke dominant alongside sweet malt, black pepper and caramel. The finish is long and dry, with peat smoke and oak and a fine salty note.
