This is The Kurayoshi 12 Year Old Pure Malt from the Matsui Shuzo Distillery in Japan, bottled at 43% vol in a 70cl bottle.
It is a blend of single malts imported from Scotland, married with Japanese whiskies of the same age. The whisky is matured in bourbon casks and reduced to drinking strength with volcanic-filtered water.
The nose is of oak, bourbon vanilla, sweet caramel and cherries. The palate is very soft and harmonious, with vanilla and caramel meeting cherries, roasted nuts and wood. The finish is long and well balanced.
