The Kurayoshi 18 Year is a blended malt from Japan, made by the Matsui Shuzo distillery, which was founded in 1910. It is bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
Malt whisky sourced from Scotland is blended with Japanese malt distilled with volcanic rock-filtered water. The whisky is aged entirely in white oak barrels.
The nose is slightly grassy, with buttered bread and aromatic oak. On the palate there is honey with smoke and spice, then mellow vanilla and a touch of mint. The finish is led by vanilla, with a little smoke lingering.
