The Legendary Dark Silkie is a smoky blended Irish whiskey from Sliabh Liag Distillers in County Donegal, inspired by the peated whiskeys long associated with the county. It is bottled at 46% ABV in a 75cl bottle and is non-chill filtered.
The blend is built on triple-distilled peated single malt, peated to 55 ppm before distillation. This is combined with double-distilled unpeated single malt and soft grain whiskey, and matured in sherry, bourbon and virgin oak casks.
The nose offers fresh apple and pear, sweet pipe tobacco, seasoned oak and peat smoke. The palate is soft and rounded, with salted caramel, dark chocolate, liquorice, toffee and dry spicy smoke. The finish is warming and lingering, with smoky malt and a nutty note.
