The Legendary Silkie Midnight is an Irish blended malt from Sliabh Liag Distillers in County Donegal. It combines five triple-distilled single malts, and peated malt matured in bourbon casks makes up 35% of the blend.
The other malts come from Oloroso sherry, virgin oak, imperial stout and red wine casks. It is bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered and at natural colour, in a 75cl bottle.
The nose is rich, with dark muscovado, baked apple, chocolate orange and pipe smoke. On the palate come dried dark fruit, toffee, treacle, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, leather and dry peat smoke. The finish is long, with earthy smoke, citrus and gentle pepper.
