The Macallan 12 Years Double Cask is a Scotch single malt matured for 12 years in both American and European oak. The casks previously held Oloroso sherry, which gives the whisky a warm character.
The Macallan distillery in the north-east of Scotland was started by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and schoolteacher, and was among the first in Scotland to receive a licence, in 1824.
Honey, citrus and ginger are the main flavours in this whisky.
