A 15 year old single malt from Macallan, made from whisky matured in both Sherry-seasoned ex-Bourbon barrels and Sherry casks.
The two kinds of oak each add something: European oak brings exotic spice and richness, while American oak brings vanilla. The Sherry in turn contributes dessert-like flavours of dark chocolate and caramel.
Macallan was founded in 1824 and has been owned by the Edrington Group since 1999.
