The Macallan Double Cask 18 Years Old is a single malt matured for 18 years in sherry seasoned American and European oak casks, all seasoned with dry Oloroso sherry.
The two oaks each play a part. American oak contributes delicate vanilla, citrus and butterscotch, while European oak adds the subtle spice associated with The Macallan. Once matured, the two whiskies are united, giving a sweeter, warmer taste and character.
