This is a 30 year old Double Cask single malt from The Macallan, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It combines American oak, which brings sweetness and vanilla, with European oak, which adds sherried richness, depth and spice.
In the glass it is antique gold. The nose has butterscotch with orange oil, golden raisins, nutmeg, polished oak and dried rose petals. The palate offers vanilla fudge, stewed pear, Seville orange marmalade, toasted almond and gingerbread, with tobacco leaf, dark chocolate and cinnamon bark later on.
The finish is long, returning to vanilla, spice and orange peel, and closing on seasoned oak.
