The Macallan A Night on Earth in Scotland is a single malt bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It is the first in a series of annual releases, inspired by Hogmanay, the Scottish New Year's Eve celebration. Lead whisky maker Sarah Burgess drew on her own memories of Hogmanay.
The whisky is made from sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks together with ex-bourbon barrels, which add vanilla in a nod to the first footer's gift of shortbread. The label design is by illustrator Erica Dorn.
Expect vanilla, baked apple and almond on the nose, a soft, shortbread-like sweetness on the palate, and a medium finish of butterscotch and freshly baked biscuits.
