The Journey is the second edition of Macallan's A Night on Earth series, a limited release inspired by the shared joy of seeing in the New Year. It is a single malt from Speyside, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky is a first-fill marriage of American ex-bourbon casks with European and American sherry-seasoned oak. Its inspiration came from the artist Nimi Sum and her journey home to celebrate the new year, and the packaging was designed in collaboration with her.
The nose offers toasted oak, a creamy steamed rice and coconut milk pudding, citrus, vanilla and oat biscuits. On the palate, sparkling lemon and lime meet vanilla sponge and toasted coconut, and the finish is medium in length with sweet toasted oak and vanilla.
