The Macallan Classic Cut 2025 is the ninth release in an annual limited series, in which the character of the whisky changes with each edition. It is a marriage of American oak bourbon casks and European oak sherry casks, bottled at 50.6% in a 70cl bottle.
The strength was chosen to bring forward velvety milk chocolate and orange zest, and adding a little water is recommended to open up notes of grapefruit, panna cotta, apple and lemon zest.
On the nose there is orange oil, barley sugar, milk chocolate with caramel wafer, creamy vanilla panna cotta and freshly baked apple strudel. The finish is long, with grapefruit and melon and a touch of warming oak spice.
