The Macallan – Double Cask 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 40%)

The Macallan Double Cask 12 Year Old is a Speyside single malt in a 70cl bottle at 40% ABV. It unites whisky matured in sherry-seasoned American oak with whisky from sherry-seasoned European oak, and the colour is natural. The American oak leads, with vanilla, citrus and light oak over a backdrop of rich fruit, sherry and wood spice. The American oak is made into casks in Spain and sherry seasoned there before it is filled with new make spirit at the distillery and left for twelve years. The nose has creamy butterscotch, toffee apple, candied orange, vanilla custard and newly felled oak. The palate brings honeyed wood spices and citrus with raisins and caramel. The finish is warm, sweet and drying, with lingering oak.
