The Macallan – Double Cask 18 Year Old (70cl, 43%)

The Macallan Double Cask 18 Year Old is a Speyside single malt matured for 18 years in sherry-seasoned oak casks, both American and European, each seasoned in Jerez, Spain. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle, with natural colour and without chill filtration. The two oaks shape its character, with the vanilla sweetness of American oak sitting alongside the spicier depth of European oak. The nose is warm toffee, dried fruit, vanilla pods and gentle cinnamon. On the palate come honey, raisin, candied orange, nutmeg and a hint of ginger, followed by a long, warming finish of sweet oak and soft spice.
