The Macallan Double Cask 18 Year Old is a Speyside single malt matured for 18 years in sherry-seasoned casks of both American and European oak. This is the 2025 release, in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV.
The American oak is said to add vanilla, honey and gentle citrus, while the European oak brings dried fruit, spice and tannin.
On the nose there are dried sultanas, orange peel and baked apple with vanilla pod, polished oak, soft toffee, nutmeg and clove. The palate is full and silky, with honeyed malt, dried fruit, milk chocolate and baking spices. The finish is long and warming, with sweet oak, dried fruit and vanilla.
