This is the 2022 release of Macallan Rare Cask, a single malt from Speyside in a 70cl bottle.
It is made from hand-selected oak casks chosen for an intense, sweet raisin character and a rich, smooth complexity. The colour is ruby mahogany.
The nose is soft, with vanilla and rich raisin, then fresh apple, lemon and orange. Sweet raisin leads the palate before vanilla and dark chocolate arrive, with layers of light citrus zest. The finish is long, rich and velvety.
