This is the 2024 release of The Macallan Rare Cask, a Speyside single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 43% ABV. It is drawn from individually selected oak casks, with sherry-seasoned oak at its heart, and carries no age statement. The colour is entirely natural, a ruby-mahogany.
For this release The Macallan continued its collaboration with Charlie Burchill, guitarist of Simple Minds, exploring the part wood plays in shaping sound, aroma and flavour.
The nose brings vanilla and concentrated raisin with fresh apple, citrus and seasoned oak. The palate is rich and velvety, with sweet raisin moving into vanilla, dark chocolate and citrus zest. The finish is long, with raisin, dark chocolate, citrus and gentle oak.
