The Macallan – Rare Cask Black (70cl, 48%)

The Macallan Rare Cask Black is a Speyside single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 48% ABV. It brings a measured peat influence to a distillery known for unpeated whisky. It is matured exclusively in sherry-seasoned oak, drawn from a limited selection of rare casks, and has a deep mahogany colour. The nose is smoky and richly sherried, with soft peat smoke, raisins, dried figs, dates, dark chocolate, orange peel and polished oak. The palate is full-bodied, with dried fruits, cocoa, spiced oak, clove, nutmeg and dark caramel. The finish is long and warming, with smoky oak, dark chocolate and dried fruit.
